WebConference AmisAmies Teachers & Assistants

Intro: About Greet’s intercontinental AmisAmies eGroup:

Core of the Macadam-MixTalent Webworkshop is the AmisAmies eGroup: long-term recovering students on the five continents, aged 6 - 21. Over the last ten years we have made many costum-made webprojects, in several languages.

Dear AmisAmies Teachers & Assistants

The central theme of my celebration year is: Durable WebEducation & eLearning Students with physical challenges and medical needs.

For our webconference “Durable eMoments” I have collected discussions, experiences, remarks we exchanged and compiled them to topics I like to share with others teachers. I hope you recognize the web practice we built together over the last ten years. I will invite the teachers of our ePALS-platform & eTwinning-Europe to add their experiences, recommend new topics or send comments to our topics. I will use the summer to prepare the descriptions of our topics so we can start the webconference in the new educational year – september 15th 2008.

Our Students know I am organizing this webconference; they are proud their webefforts will be the foundation for WebLearning students elsewhere.

In the beginning I had my doubts: “Should I do it, may be not…another group of professionals talking about ‘us with physical challenges’. Don’t I betray the trust of the children and our young people, can I organize the discussions with respect for their self-reliance and privacy…”

But the students themselves, parents, grandparents, friends encouraged me to go ahead. Aware of the pioneer’s work we had done ourselves, they believed other students could benefit of our experience, our projects and themes. Often students 16+ and 18+ are assistants for the younger ones. And one of those older students wrote me: “Greet, you are always telling about the importance of the Children’s Rights; may be the “Durable eMoments” are our contribution to the Children’s Rights.” That was the key I needed to go forward with joy and determination.

You know my energy is limited to five good hours a day, so I’ll develop the topics step-by-step. I have made this schedule:

June 15th 2008: Send you a list of topics. I will choose two topics as pilots and make a full description as example

July 15th 2008: I hope to have received some first comments and further idea’s from you, so I can use the summer break to organize topics, most interesting for us all.

Sept 15th 2008: I will send proposal how we will present our topics, which will be writing or add a contribution about what

Funny Celebrationhead, I made for videoconferencing. I hope our students will like it.

Despite the physical distance between us, I hope my celebration year and our webconference will bridge caps in our experiences and bring us nearer to each other on behalf of our students.

Bye, with warm friendship from Holland, Greet
