To teachers, parents, families & friends
My name is Greet Meesen. I was born 1950, in this village - called Waterlandkerkje, at the belgium/dutch border in Europe, but I wasn't there all the time...

When I was two years old I got poliomyelitis; in those days (1952) vaccination didn't excist yet. I was five years old when I could walk for the first time, with a brace. As a child and in my teens I had to undergo several treatments and operations. Sometimes I had to stay for month in a hospital or in bed at home.
Nevertheless I went to University, managed to become a teacher at a college, and I am married to Rob for twenty-five years. Now I am homebound again and my main work is to make Macadam, the International On-line Meetingplace for children & teens whom daily have to face a chronic disease. I am also a boardmember of Bearable Times - The Kids Hospital Network in America.
I live in Holland, near Amsterdam and I hope my experience makes it possible to support your own Macadamian. Together with Chantel Gonsalves-Brown, the president of Bearable Times-TKHN, I try to make a safe place for the children on the web. For the children she is known as Capeheart or Capeheart-Chantel. Together, we form the responsable adults-team. If you want to know more about our work, please
email: Greet or Capeheart-Chantel
